Good day everyone of the ECPL!! 
    
    Your Poison Gym Leader here to let you know that I'm on and will be on now that I have things set up! I'm very excited to be able to post on a brand new forum with infinitely better user friendly everything. Now, as of the date of this post, 1-27-14, Bank has not been released in the U.S. and this means that I'm not up to par with most other competitive teams since I've put soooooo many hours into training and breading my teams for the perfect IV spreads and you know the drill, I'm not up for doing it again just to get them back in the next couple days/weeks/months (better not take f*cking months!!). Anyway, I do still have my team from MAGFest (Drapion, Tentacrule, Gengar, Venusaur, Toxicroak, Amoongus, Weezing, and Scolopede) ready for some decent battles if any trainers would like to battle! I'm still down for 5th gen, too.


    Now, with that wall of text down, I would like to make my first discussion topic be about a poison type I'm not overly enthused about but have wanted to run for some time, Swallot. I feel like he is best suited for singles as he can set up fairly easily with moves like  Sub, Stock Pile, Swallow, Gunk Shot/Spit Up/Sludge Wave and being Baton Passed by Speed Boost Scolopede after 1 or 2 swords dances or Iron Defense. Scolopede would be holding a Focus Sash of course. But idk, I've never got around to breeding one. So please, let us know what you think of this build and do you think he would be viable in a poison team? 

    Lastly, I would like to make a pool of averagely bred Poison Type Pokemon, with desired egg moves, for all of the Poison Gym Trainers. I will have a list of all Poison Gym Pokemon with all stats and moves for all to read and if you would like to have one, I'd be more than happy to pass on their progeny to any and all willing trainers with a bit Poison in their blood.

    That said I've never found anything wrong with deviating from the typical Smogon build, as long as you can make it work. I myself have found a fair bit of success in going for a Jolly Drapion build with Sniper and Scope Lens instead of the typical life orb. I also use Rock-Slide instead of Earth Quake (take that Talonflame and Charizard Y). If you ever want to test your build for Swallot let me know and we can have ourselves a little battle. There's some crazy stuff that I've been thinking about doing for various poison-type Pokemon like Victreebel and Weezing that is probably going to blow up in my face, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

    I'm Ian, the poison-trainer from MAGfest, by the way. I don't believe we exchanged Friend Codes at MAGfest so we may as well do it now mine is: 1891-1280-6399 and my IGN is Ian. Unlike those who have kept up with Pokemon from previous gens I don't have very many Pokemon that I've bred for IVs (only Crobat, Toxicroak, Drapion, and a Gengar). That said, I'm looking forward to breeding some more Pokemon and hopefully doing better against people who are competitive.

I also run my Drapion with Sniper and Razor Claw, I think it's a much better build than life orb since it doesn't have any form of recovery and the new crit mechanics in 6th gen are pretty nice.

But, I would like to know how you would run a Swalot and your opinions on its place in a party, whether that's in a double poison team or a baton passed wall in a singles multi-type team.

I would keep in mind that in Gen VI they added the move Belch which has a base damage of 120 instead of Sludge Bomb's 90 and it also can hit both of your opponents Pokemon. I imagine if you were to run Swalot in doubles you find a way to exploit that. Maybe have Swalot with the ability Gluttony along with a Sitrus berry (since Belch requires the user to consume a berry before you can use it). It won't do as much damage as a powered up spit up, but it does  have STAB along with only taking 1 turn to set up and hit both opponents instead of one. It also won't lower your defense afterwards. Then you could either choose to save spit up for steel-types or use swallow for recovery. 

Swalot also has access to Poison Gas, which in Gen VI has the same accuracy of as Toxic. It won't badly poison, but It'll affect both Pokemon instead of just one.  I know I said earlier that I had no clue what you would do with Swalot, but I'm thinking he could be a menace in doubles. Of course I would have to test some things out to be sure.

Actually it looks like I made a mistake, Belch only targets one Pokemon.

Well it's a Ludo board, but Ludo, Parcheesi, Trouble, Sorry, and Aggravation! are all basically the same game. Not all of us can have a gym badge as our Icons, lol. For the record though, Corrosive badge is probably the coolest name for a poison themed badge.

I'm thinking of making my own with Toxicroak, Tentacruel, Amoongus, and Weezing. Pretty much my whole team. I'm about to graduate with a BFA and I'd like to make my own. Nice! I have a fondness for Crobat, but really all Poison-Type Pokemon are cool. In fact since running a mono-type team a number of them have grown on me (like Drapion and Toxicroak). It's also neat that you plan on doing the artwork yourself and that you plan on including more than one Pokemon. I can't wait to see it.
