After reading the article about "closing the open carry loophole" its discouraging knowing that its pretty much a matter of time before its rammed down our throats or negotiated away. The special interests are very good at hitting one small point and getting great gains. While our states gun laws are restrictive and confusing overall do have a few points that do help in the big picture.
Our having both concealed and open carry is a good thing that must not be lost or given away. Imagine living in a state without open carry where a CPL holder reaching for a can at a store or coat blows open and can be arrested or fined for openly displaying a firearm. I believe we need to be on the offense in this school open carry issue and not be "negotiated" another net loss. Its about like zero negotiating with Iran.
Currently it is legal for a CPL holder to open carry in certain areas. Again "Grade A" citizens who have been inspected and detected above and beyond just a purchase background check. It has been made confusing enough at times to comply with the laws. SO... I think as whole the open carry can and should remain basically as is. How ever I believe we should aggressively work to take the lead in this fight. My thoughts are to pursue the following, some of which is distasteful to me, but is a huge net win.
