If there are two things I've learned by playing Pokemon X and Y is that Monotype teams are hype and Multi Battles are hype. Why don't we combine the two and create an event with levels of hype the likes of which competitive Pokemon play has never seen? Now with everything people are doing to get the general business of the league set up I don't expect everyone to just drop everything and run something like this. I do, however, want to throw the idea out there (both to judge interest and agree on rules).
Here are some basic rules that I've been thinking about:
How to participate:
You will select a team of 9 Pokemon (maximum) to take you through the entire tournament. You will then team up with another trainer, who also has a team 9. That trainer will be your partner who will be with you throughout the entirety of the tournament. Should one of you violate the rules you will both be disqualified.
Battle Rules:
Also here are some optional rules, these are just things that I think would make the competition interesting but are not necessary. Here they are:
Like I said, I'm just throwing these ideas out there, but I'm interested to hear your feedback. I'd also like to throw out that I wouldn't mind being the organizer/referee of something like this so all of you gym leaders can get a chance to compete.

Battle Rules:
- Game Choice: 6th Gen
- Battle Type: Multi Battle (Normal Battles)
- Monotype Clause: Every Pokemon on a player's team must share at least one particular type.
- Species Clause: A player's team may not contain two Pokemon with the same National Pokedex number.
- Item Claus: No more than one of each item may be used on a Pokemon in each team. (per player)
- Self-KO Clause: Self destructs as a final move are a loss condition for the user. Recoil however(brave bird, life orb, etc.) awards victory to the user of the recoil move.
- Sleep Clause: A paring may cannot put two or more opposing Pokemon to sleep using attacks that induce sleep to to opposing Pokemon.
- Evasion Clause: A player cannot increase their Pokemon evasion stat with a move that specifically increases evasion. Items or indirect boost do not break this clause. (abilities like snow cloak and items like Bright Powder are permitted).
- Illegal moves: No Pokemon may use the move "Dark Void"
- Banned Pokemon: All Legendary Pokemon are not permitted.
- Diversity Clause: A pair may not consist of two monotype teams of the same type. (Example: A trainer with a Dragon monotype team may not pair up with another trainer that has a Dragon monotype team)
- Mutual Weakness Clause: A pairing can only be formed between two trainers whose monotype teams has a mutual weakness. (Example: A Normal-Type trainer may not team up with an Electric-Type trainer since Normal is not weak to ground and electric is not weak to fighting. A Normal-Type trainer may, however, pair up with a Dark-Type trainer since both are weak to fighting.
